Blueberry Muffin Top Cookies

Blueberry MuffinTop CookiesI accidentally made the BEST cookies ever.  To be honest they are more like the famous Muffin Tops from the Seinfeld episode.

Just like every famous invention, I was busy making chocolate chip cookies, and blueberry muffins in the same day.  I grabbed a bowl of dough out of the refrigerator and started making cookies and realized half way through that I was using the muffin batter.   EUREKA!  I decided to roll the cookie balls in raw sugar and cinnamon and bake them like cookies.  They were sooo good that the kids ate them all and I had to make a second batch just to make sure that it wasn’t a fluke.  It wasn’t!!

Blueberry Muffin Top Cookies

Here is the recipe so you can make your own.

I used the recipe for Blueberry Crumb Muffins of www.DinnersforaYear.blogspot.com

1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
2 cups flour  (I used unbleached all purpose flour)
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
2 cups blueberries
1 tablespoon flour

In a large bowl cream together 1/2 cup butter, and 3/4 cup sugar. Add egg and beat well. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add flour mixture to butter mixture alternately with the milk. Toss blueberries with 1 tablespoon of flour and gently fold into batter.  (The batter is so stiff that I didn’t feel like I needed to flour the blueberries.)

Now roll the cookie balls into raw sugar and cinnamon.  The batch above I used regular sugar and they were fine but the raw sugar gives a nicer crunch!

I baked them 400 degrees for 10 -12 minutes.  If you use the raw sugar then watch them carefully so they don’t burn on the bottoms.

Top of the Muffin to ya!!

OMG these look divine.. I have had a major muffin craving lately and need to make these..

Also, I laughed at the Seinfeld reference (it isn’t top of the muffin TO YOU!)–love that episode!!

Too funny!! I have actually done the same thing, although my outcome was not quite as good. And I laughed at the Seinfeld clip, what a hoot that show was!! It’s good to make the best of any goof-up…way to go! Oh and remember, cumin looks a lot like cinnamon.
