You know…The Doily Dilemma

So here’s my thing with doilies.  I don’t really like them.  Case in point, every time we have some sort of event at my house my mother-in-law says,

“Do you have any doilies? I think it makes things look nicer.”

Then I say, “No, I don’t really like doilies.”

Now fast forward to the next event and replay the doily conversation.  Every.Single.Time.

Yes there could be worse things.  But I hate doilies.

So why in the world would I buy this multi-pack of  doilies at Michaels?  I think it is because I was planning some Anthro Knock Off Craft and then forgot to do the craft.

Then I came across the most adorable cake plates at Goodwill and had to add them to my Collection. (Addiction/Hoarding)

A perfect fit.  Now here’s the deal with the doily.  I don’t really like doilies but I  like lead poioning less.  No, I am not certain that this cake plate is covered in lead paint, but one cannot be too careful if you ask me!

Cake Plate Goodwill 4Seeee!  Now you can put some scones on top.  YES I did wash the cake plates when I got them home from Goodwill.  Did you know how many people ask? A lot.  I am a thrifting germaphobe.  It’s a real thing.

But wait!  There’s more!!  Another adorable, now washed in hot water cake plate to go with it!!

Hi from the UK! Love your blog, the thrift revolution is finally gaining pace here too. Hurrah! (Although that means less stuff for me. Gah.)

My mom is a doily FA-REAK! Seriously, she has a huge container of them filled with every size, shape and color. They do look pretty with her cookie displays and whatnot. She also has a gorgeous collection of cake stands. 🙂

I know i already commented on IG, but had to say again how awesome this cake plate is! I wish i knew the history of it!

You are so smart to think of the lead paint…I’m not sure I would’ve thought of that!
